The São Paulo Prosecution Office of Accounts is represented by nine Attorneys appointed by the State Governor. Entry into the career depends on passing a civil service examination consisting of tests and title evaluations, which requires candidates to have a bachelor's degree in Law and at least five years of legal practice.

Attorneys of the Prosecution Office of Accounts have the constitutional guarantees of tenure, irremovability and irreducibility of wages, as well as the rights and prerogatives provided for in the National Organic Law of the Public Prosecution Service (Law No. 8.625/1993).

It is incumbent upon the Attorneys of the Prosecution Office of Accounts to carry out their attributions, in particular to:

  1. issue orders, statements and written opinions in the cases assigned to them;  
  2. file appeals in the cases assigned to them;  
  3. propose provisional measures aiming to safeguard public property and compliance with constitutional and legal rules;  
  4. attend the Court's trial sessions, intervening verbally if necessary;  
  5. carry out preliminary investigations and other actions aimed at protecting public property;  
  6. issue notices and subpoenas in the cases assigned to them;  
  7. other attributions stipulated by law or regulation.
